What do I do if I am bitten by a dog or witness a dog attack?

An active attack by a dog should be reported to 911.   

 

A dog bite should be reported through metro non-emergency at 304-348-8111.    
A dog bite should be reported as quickly as possible, ideally within the same day it occurred. The involved dog should be quarantined immediately or within 24 hours.   
A dog bite report should include:

  

    • Victims information
    •  Owner’s information
    • If possible, time and date when it occurred
    • Description of the dog
    • Photographs of the injuries
    • Location of the dog.
