What types of animals am I permitted to have?
The City of Charleston allows up to two dogs per residence within city limits. Having more than two dogs requires a special permit. Restrictions, fees, and exceptions are laid out in city code 10-120 and 10-121, here.
There is no ordinance governing the number of cats.

City code 10-13 restricts the keeping of wild animals normally dangerous to human beings, such as wildcats, bears, venomous reptiles, or constrictor species except with license or permit, as detailed in city code 10-13 here.
