General maintenance requires no review. Minor work where no change of materials are proposed may be approved by the staff of the Charleston Historic Landmarks Commission. Any major work, replacement of character defining features, or use of substitute materials requires the review and approval of the Charleston Historic Landmarks Commission. This chart identifies the level of review required for common examples of work in the district.
